The 2-Week Moving Checklist for SLO County Residents

    Published · Updated · 6 min read

Most local moves don't need months of planning — but the last two weeks are when small details start to slip. Here's the schedule we recommend to our SLO County customers.

14 days out: Book your movers. Even for short notice in San Luis Obispo or Pismo Beach, locking the date early improves the chance of getting your preferred time. Confirm utility transfer dates for both addresses.

10 days out: Start packing seasonal and decorative items. Label every box with the destination room and a one-line summary of contents.

7 days out: Confirm your moving date with us. Donate or junk anything you don't want to pay to move — same-day junk removal across SLO County may be available if you need a hand — call or text to check scheduling.

3 days out: Pack a 'first night' box: phone chargers, toiletries, sheets, a few pots, coffee. This box rides with you, not on the truck.

Moving day: Strip beds, empty the fridge, take a final photo of every utility meter. Keep walkways clear so the crew can work efficiently — that keeps your final hours-based bill lower.

Decide early who does the heavy lifting: our local moving in San Luis Obispo County covers the truck and the crew, while labor-only loading and unloading help works when you already have a rental truck, trailer, container or storage unit.
